The 21st Annual Tribute Gala is a virtual event to be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
Tribute Gala Co-chairs Charlie and Beth Angelakos, David and Kate Daniels, and Honourary Co-chairs Salah Bachir and Jacob Yerex invite you to join them in recognizing Ted for his outstanding leadership in philanthropy.
Ted Manziaris is Senior Vice President for GFL Environmental Inc. A serial entrepreneur, Ted co-founded Toronto-based Turtle Island Recycling Corporation in the early 1990s and has continued to lead GFL Environmental’s corporate sales and business development since the 2011 acquisition of Turtle Island.
Other notable businesses, cultural and philanthropic contributions include the co-founding of Right At Home Realty, Nexus REIT, Trillium Acquisition Corp, and the newest NHL team Seattle Krakens. He is a long-time supporter of MLSE foundation, Helping Hands Jamaica, Hellenic Hope Foundation, Mount Sinai Women’s Auxiliary, Pro-Action Cops, and Habitat for Humanity-Hurricane Katrina Relief, where he worked on the ground re-building fifteen homes.
Ted has been awarded the respected Queens Golden Jubilee Medal, an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Law from Assumption-University of Windsor, the Ontario Ethnic Media Award, Ahepa CEGA Award for Family and Individual Excellence and was called as an Archon of the Patriarch of Constantinople.
In addition to his leadership in business and philanthropy, Ted is admired by his colleagues, friends, and family for his generosity, mentorship, and distinctive ability to lift those around him with his vivacity, humour, and charm. As a past supporter of Yorktown Family Services, and the recipient of the 2021 Yorktown Humanitarian Award for Community Service, Ted is helping to bring positive change to Toronto’s communities.
