Yorktown Family Services is a community-based non-profit social services agency dedicated to providing effective, accessible, quality mental health treatment, prevention, and outreach services to children, youth, women, and families in West Toronto. We are uniquely organized to deliver services through two independent but integrated organizations: Infant, Child, and Youth Mental Health & West Toronto Youth Hub — a children’s mental health center, and Violence Against Women Services — a shelter for women and their children who are fleeing an abusive relationship.
Primary Function:
The Family, Child & Youth Therapist role will provide a range of coordinated individual, family, and group services to a diverse, complex and multicultural clientele. The candidate will assist with coordinating and providing intake services for our START program, KFT Program, and therapy within our rapid access program.
Responsibilities:
- Complete initial intake assessments for all participants referred to in the START program and monitor the START waitlist.
- Prioritize urgent care needs and make internal and external referrals as needed.
- Acts as a link for clients into therapy, but also other Yorktown programs and partners.
- Provide intake assessments and presentations to our core therapy team for discussion.
- Maintain appropriate records for each service program as required.
- Attend intake supervision twice per month with manager.
- Coordinate and collaborate services with Child Welfare, Family Health Care Teams, Community Health Centers, Physicians, Justice Organizations, and other partner agencies.
- Provide outreach, participating in school/parent information nights and delivering community- based workshops on mental health issues.
- Attend partner agency and city-wide Intake Coordinators’ meetings.
- Participate in internal agency committees as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- M.S.W., or MACP equivalent master’s degree.
- Valid registration with the appropriate regulatory college as related to one of the following: The Ontario College of Social Workers or The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
- Minimum of three years relevant child, youth and young adult mental health experience coordinating services and providing direct service
- Experience conducting intakes is
- Enthusiasm and skill to support change with a multi-challenged, diverse client population.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity to changing situations and needs.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team with excellent people engagement skills, with the ability to build working relationships with internal and external
- Understanding and knowledge of women’s abuse and the impact on children exposed to women’s abuse.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings (at least two evenings per week)
- Comfort with the client database system and excellent level of computer literacy utilizing MS Office
- Recent Vulnerable Sector Screening is
- Access to a reliable vehicle is a definite
