Volunteer Advisor

Position: Volunteer Advisor, Youth Advisory Committee –West Toronto Youth Wellness Hub

Committee and Volunteer Description

Operating under Yorktown Family Services at the West Toronto Youth Wellness Hub, the Youth Advisory Committee aims to build youth engagement through monthly committee meetings that will give young people the opportunity to express their views and have their voices heard on topics that are important to them.

Youth engagement is about empowering you as a young person. It ensures all young people are being treated as valuable partners when decisions are being made or addressed here at West Toronto Youth Wellness Hub. Our focus will be on improving programs and services currently being offered. As well as developing social media for the Youth Advisory Committee and a new harm reduction plan for the West Toronto Youth Hub.

Advisor Requirements / Qualification:
  1. 16 – 25 years old
  2. Great communication skills
  3. Ability to work alongside other youths in a respectful manner
  4. Lived experience within the community and accessing services and programs
  5. Be able to commit for a minimum of six months
Advisor Duties / Responsibilities:
  1. Take part in monthly in-person roundtable discussions
  2. Develop an understanding on how to navigate services and programs at West Toronto Youth Hub
  3. Work collectively with other advisor members to help provide feedback on current services and programs offered at the West Toronto Youth Hub
  4. Co-create social media plan to share and connect new and existing community members
  5. Imagine and help co-design new services and program
  6. Explore ways for new partnerships and pop-up initiatives

  2. Participation in a one-to-one interview
  3. Signing of relevant forms including agreement of confidentiality and code of conduct
  4. Notification of acceptance/non-acceptance in the program
