Yorktown Family Services is excited to announce that we’ve opened a new walk-in mental health clinic in St. James Town, offering free, same-day counselling to youth and young adults aged 0 to 29 years old. Located in one of Toronto’s most densely populated and diverse neighbourhood, the clinic provides rapid access to support for youth facing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, family issues, and more.
The clinic is hosted at The Corner, a dynamic hub for health and social services in St. James Town. Operated in partnership with local service providers and residents, The Corner is a trusted space that responds to the complex and evolving needs of one of Toronto’s most diverse communities.
Yorktown’s St. James Town mental health walk-in clinic operates on a drop-in basis with no health card, referral, or appointment required, removing common barriers that prevent youth from getting help when they need it most.
“Young people are asking for mental health support, and they need services that are fast, flexible, local, free, and confidential,” said Suzette Arruda-Santos, CEO of Yorktown Family Services. “All our walk-in clinics are designed to meet youth where they are, with compassionate care that’s accessible and culturally responsive.”
Highly trained therapists provide Yorktown’s walk-in mental health services. The focus is on helping youth manage challenges before they become crises. The St. James Town site builds on the success of the What’s Up Walk-In model, which operates in several Toronto neighbourhoods.
“There’s a critical need for mental health services in St. James Town, especially for youth from newcomer and racialized communities,” said Karlene Haughton, Manager of Brief Services and Walk-in. “Our walk-in clinics provide safe spaces where youth can be heard and supported without judgment.”
At The Corner, located at 200 Wellesley St. E., young people up to age 29, along with parental support, can walk in during service hours for a free, confidential session with a therapist.
