Sam Hodge and her mother, Myrline Letlow Hodge, have been dedicated members of Yorktown Family Services’ cGaming Volunteer Team since 2022. Through this initiative, Yorktown partners with Dolphin Gaming Centre, the City of Toronto, and the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association (OCGA) to raise vital funds that directly support children, youth, women, and families in our community.
Each month, proceeds from cGaming help Yorktown sustain critical mental health, outreach, and violence prevention services. Volunteers like Sam and Myrline make this possible by representing Yorktown at Dolphin Gaming Centre, greeting patrons, ensuring the space is safe and welcoming, and helping raise awareness of how community gaming contributes to positive local impact.
Volunteering for Yorktown Family Services has given me the chance to appreciate someone who inspires me every day—my mom. Volunteering with my mother, Myrline, and watching her dedication has made volunteering truly meaningful.
What I enjoy most is seeing how much care she puts into everything she does.
Being able to volunteer alongside her has made the experience even more special. It has brought us closer, given us shared goals, and allowed me to see firsthand the impact one person can make when they choose to serve their community.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute in my own way and to learn from her example. We both look forward to continuing our volunteer work for Yorktown Family Services and finding even more ways to support the families who rely on it.
