Yorktown Family Services is a community-based non-profit social services agency dedicated to providing effective, accessible, quality mental health treatment, prevention, and outreach services to children, youth, women, and families in West Toronto. We are uniquely organized to deliver services through two independent but integrated organizations: Infant, Child, and Youth Mental Health & West Toronto Youth Hub — a children’s mental health center, and Violence Against Women Services — a shelter for women and their children who are fleeing an abusive relationship.

Primary Function:

The Senior Trauma Treatment Therapist role will provide trauma-informed mental health assessment, treatment, and therapeutic intervention to children, youth, young adults, and families experiencing acute, chronic, and complex trauma in relation to adverse childhood experiences, survivors of hate-based incidents, and survivors of community violence. The Senior Trauma Therapist will also be adept at report writing and communicating with community stakeholders and will co-lead capacity development internally and externally through case consultation support and presentations.

  Responsibilities:
  • Deliver evidence-informed trauma assessments and therapeutic interventions for children, youth, and young adults experiencing acute, chronic, and complex trauma
  • Develop and coordinate treatment plans, case management, and mental health interventions
  • Provide individual, family, and community based therapeutic support in multiple service formats
  • Monitor client progress using evidence-based assessment and screening tools
  • Complete psychosocial assessments, trauma evaluations, and clinical documentation
  • Serve as a trauma specialist within an interdisciplinary team (i.e. psychosis, early years)
  • Facilitate training and capacity-building opportunities for staff and community partners
  • Refer clients to specialized or intensive mental health and psychiatric services as needed
  • Collaborate with legal, justice, healthcare, and community agencies to coordinate client care
  • Participate in organizations training, committees, consultations, and evidence-based practice initiatives

 Qualifications:

  • Holds an MSW, MACP, or equivalent master’s degree and maintain professional registration (CRPO or Registered Social Worker)
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 5 years experience in trauma-focused mental health services
  • Strong knowledge of trauma, PTSD, and the impacts of prolonged violence exposure
  • Understands the effects of racism, oppression, and social exclusion on mental health and behaviour
  • Utilize evidence-informed therapeutic approaches such as Trauma-Focused CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Assess risk and threats related to client, community, and personal safety
  • Collaborate effectively in community settings and contribute to training, education, and program outreach
  • Present confidently in community settings and contribute to training, education and program outreach
  • Adaptable to flexible work arrangements including evenings, court attendance, and travel across the GTA
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening Required
