Did you know that May 6th through 12th is Children’s Mental Health Week, and May 7th is National Child and Youth Mental Health Day? At Yorktown Family Services, we are committed to providing support and resources to, children, youth, and families in need in Toronto. We’ve been serving clients for over 30 years! #CMHW2024 is crucial for us, as we come together with our partners at Children’s Mental Health Ontario to recognize the importance of the mental health and well-being needs of young people. Yorktown’s clients range from young adults (60% between ages 18-29), youth (30% between age 12-18) and children, under 12. Sixty-five percent of our clients are children living in single-parent families, so we know a lot about being there and supporting kids in our neighbourhood.
Clients present with concerns around their mental health such as low mood or anxiety, social concerns such as challenges with interpersonal relationships, bullying, or feeling isolated, or behavioural concerns. One of the important ways we support children, youth, young adults, and families is through our West Toronto Youth Wellness Hub located at the Jane St. Hub. The West Toronto Youth Wellness Hub provides young people with an inclusive, welcoming space where they can walk in and access a full range of Integrated Youth Services (IYS) free of charge. These services include mental health and substance use health supports, primary health care, and social services. We also provide social programs where participants create connections through recreational and engagement programs. For children and families, our 2010 Eglinton Avenue West location has a wide range of evidence-informed programs that support the healthy development of babies and young children, as well as support parents. Yorktown is consistently receiving rave reviews from our clients, with many saying once they found Yorktown they knew they had come to the right place!
In celebration of our mission; to support and equip women, children, youth and families to create positive change in their lives, we’re hosting a special Children’s Mental Health Week event, This is a community event and everyone is welcome to attend!

Please consider a gift or donation to Yorktown so we can continue to support our community and offer free programs and events to help families thrive! A gift of $100 buys an immediate counselling session for a youth in need. $300 enables an at-risk youth to participate in programs that help them gain marketable skills. A $1000 gift supports participation for an at-risk youth in a Youth Engagement Program.
Mental health issues are not isolated events; the sooner we can support children, the better. By giving generously to Yorktown Family Services you are ensuring that children and youth will have somewhere they can turn to get mental health support.
Make a difference today by investing in our youth who hold the key to our future.
