2018 Tribute Dinner - Yorktown Family Services

On June 8^th, 2018, the Yorktown Family Services Humanitarian Award for Community Service was presented to Kate and David Daniels in recognition of their many years of dedication to making a difference in the lives of others. Kate and David are both guided by what they refer to as “PSR” or “Personal Social Responsibility,” focussed on active participation in smaller non-profits that emphasize youth and the arts.

The 2018 Tribute Dinner honouring Kate and David was a resounding success, raising over $230,000. As honourees, the Daniels have helped elevate awareness of Yorktown’s charity, enabling them to continue to offer innovative, evidence-based programs to children, youth, women and families in one of Ontario’s most under-resourced communities.

Yorktown Family Services is grateful to our honourees, Kate and David Daniels, as well as our Co-Chairs, Salah Bachir and Jacob Yerex, and of course all of the sponsors, donors, and attendees who all contributed to the success of this important fundraising event.

Kate Alexander Daniels and David Daniels

are both guided by what they refer to as “PSR” or “personal social responsibility”, focussed on active participation in smaller non-profits that emphasize youth and the arts.

David is a principal of real estate investor, Daniels Capital Group, co-founder of award-winning Sustainable T.O Architecture + Building, and principal of David Versus Goliath Productions. His stage, film and TV projects have been nominated for and/or won Gemini, Genie, Dramalogue, Dora Mavor Moore and American Video Awards. Philanthropy includes: Executive Producer of The Musical Stage Co.; Director of Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto, Shakespearience Performing Arts, and the National Theatre School; Advisor to Crow’s Theatre, Actors Fund of Canada, and Artists For Peace and Justice. He is the initial recipient of the Gilda’s Club Award of Excellence and is a contributor to “150 Stories”, published by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario on the occasion of Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Kate is a principal of Daniels O’Hagan Stephenson Strategic Communications + Production. Selected clients include: Rogers, Maison Birks, Musee des Beaux Arts Montreal, Disney, The Globe & Mail, HBO Canada, Hermes, Labatt, Moet et Chandon, Prada, Toronto Film Critics’ Association Awards, Mongrel Media, Second City, Warner, Westbank, Music Canada, Kim Cattrall, Nelly Furtado. Philanthropy includes: Director of the Canadian Film Centre; Advisor to Artists For Peace and Justice; Co-Chair of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards (2012-17). Together with Salah Bachir, Kate has chaired numerous fund-raising events but is proudest of her work the inaugural Crows Theatre event , Picasso and Chagall events at the AGO,and Suzanne Rogers Presents Diane Von Furstenberg for Covenant House and War Child.

As recipients of the 2018 Yorktown Family Services Humanitarian Award for Community Service, Kate and David are helping to bring awareness and support to Yorktown’s innovative, evidence-based programs for children, youth, women and families in Toronto’s most under-resourced communities.

Through their generous investments of time and financial contributions, the Daniels’ are helping to bring positive change to Toronto’s communities, benefitting us all.
