START Program
START stands for Strengths-based, Time-limited, Attainable, Realistic Therapy. This is an 8-12 session therapy program that relies on evidence informed treatment such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), BSFT (Brief Solution Focused Therapy), and family systems models, with the purpose of supporting children, youth, and their families to meet manageable goals. Participants of START come with various struggles and strengths and all are hoping to move towards change.
We aim to “start” with participants where they are at—understanding where someone is emotionally and mentally—and work in partnership with them to identify manageable goals that lead to realistic and meaningful change. Each participant or family is matched with a therapist for the duration of the program with the intention of stabilizing on the path towards meeting further goals, and connecting to additional services as needed.
