Urban Tele-Mental Health (UTMH)

Urban Tele-Mental Health (UTMH) is a referral-based service that provides easy access to psychiatric assessment and consultations provided in partnership with the Hospital for Sick Children. Sessions with a member of the SickKids psychiatry team are provided via video link for children and youth up to age 18, and their families. Yorktown is the consultation site for West Toronto.

UTMH reduces barriers to accessing psychiatric assessments and consultations as the service is provided from a location that is convenient for them and the wait-time for a psychiatric appointment is greatly reduced.

The Yorktown Therapist serves as a “case manager” for the client by supporting the referral to UTMH, attending the virtual appointment with the client, and reviewing the assessment report with them. The Therapist also assists the client in navigating and coordinating any follow-up recommendations from the assessment.

Yorktown and community staff are also able to access trainings and professional to professional consultations through UTMH.
