Job Title:            Child-Minder- Here to Help (Relief Position)

Wage rate:          $14.00

Start Date:          May 2019 (3-4 hours per week)

Location-            Head Office- 2010 Eglinton Avenue West

 Yorktown Family Services provides a comprehensive range of mental health services for children, youth and families who are experiencing serious emotional/social/behavioural difficulties along with several gender based violence initiatives. Yorktown is committed to ensuring that all programs produce effective and positive outcomes for clients through evaluation, research and the incorporation of evidence-based services and practices whenever possible. Yorktown is currently seeking a Childminder on a relief basis who will join the Here to help team at head office.

Primary Function

  • Implementation of child interactive program for children whose parents are participants of Here to help Program
  • Plan and set up program on a weekly basis and complete necessary documentation (e.g. logs, consent forms, attendance, etc.).
  • Ensure children are signed in and out by their caregiver.
  • Ensure that positive and constructive feedback is given to caregivers after each session.
  • Inform the Program Leaders/ Manager of child protection issues immediately.
  • Clean, tidy, and disinfect playroom and toys weekly.
  • Follow all agency procedures e.g. confidentiality.
  • Ensure that the health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • Other duties as required.


  • E.C.E. or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children 0 – 6 years.
  • Languages (e.g. Spanish) an asset.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings.
  • CPR, first Aid training.
  • Current (6 months or less) Vulnerable Sector Search.

Program Times: Tuesday evenings
