About the Yorktown Humanitarian Award for Community Services

For over 20 years Yorktown Family Services has recognized deserving individuals and couples who have shown outstanding leadership in philanthropy by honouring them with the Humanitarian Award for Community Service. Traditionally, the award has been presented at our Tribute Dinner Gala, where hundreds of Ontario’s political, corporate and community leaders committed to making positive changes in our communities came together to celebrate our Honouree. Due to the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Yorktown postponed the 2020 Tribute Dinner and pivoted to a highly successful virtual format in 2021.

Over the years, we have honoured many outstanding individuals, while raising over $3,000,000 in revenues that go towards supporting numerous programs and services that directly benefit women, infants, children, youth, young adults and families living in Toronto.

The Annual Tribute: Yorktown’s Most Important Fundraising Event

Established in 1994, Yorktown Family Services is an accredited child and youth mental health agency and Violence Against Women services provider. Yorktown supports over 5,000 clients annually, with a focus on Toronto’s most marginalized communities in our city’s west end. We provide mental health and social service programs free of charge.

Our objective is to create healthy communities by fulfilling our mission to “support and equip women, children, youth and families to create positive change to their lives”. Yorktown’s motto is “You Have Come to the Right Place.”

Yorktown fundraises to cover the cost of delivering Violence Against Women, Mental Health, and Social Services. The Annual Tribute Event is Yorktown’s most important fundraising event and helps to close that gap in funding of our core programs and services.

In March of 2020, Yorktown rapidly responded to those in need by moving all our programs to virtual formats to observe the requirement for social distancing by removing barriers in accessing critical mental health services. During this stressful time when anxiety is high, Yorktown is receiving an increase in calls for counselling from across the GTA. The demand for service has increase by at least 40% since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yorktown would like to thank Ted Manziaris, and the incredible leaders in philanthropy that have come before him, for their commitment to bring positive change to the lives of others. Without the investment of these amazing individuals, Yorktown would not be able to bring the comprehensive level of support that we provide to members of Toronto’s under-resourced communities.

You too can help to bring positive change to Toronto’s communities by making a donation to Yorktown Family Services, right now:
