Fundraising
Like many charitable organizations, Yorktown Family Services (YFS) depends on grants from government and donations from corporations, community organizations and individuals to provide the money required to deliver our services to our community. Despite an ever-growing demand for our services and programs, finding the funding to support our operations grows more and more difficult each year.
"Today, grants from government and the United Way fall short of the budget required for Yorktown to operate effectively." says Allison Weiss, Development Committee Chair. "The difference must be made up from the private sector. Our committee is responsible for finding that additional funding. It's not an easy task!"
To fill the gap the committee seeks donations and gifts from foundations, corporations, businesses and individual donors. Much of the money is raised through personal requests, formal proposals and grant applications to a wide range of potential donors. In addition, YFS holds an annual Tribute Dinner - Yorktown's key fundraising event.
